the snail shaped campus of my Narbonne High
approaching San Pedro
A Nimitz class carrier docked just across from Cabrillo Beach, San Pedro. The first time in over 20 years there has been an aircraft carrier docked in the Port of Los Angeles. The entire Carrier Strike group docked here for a few days of shore leave, they are calling it "Navy Week" in Los Angeles. The news is saying the crowds are really bad, so I had to hop in the plane and go take a look from the air. More history here about the USS Abraham Lincoln. Incidentally Berth 46 is also the same site where the oil tanker SS Sansinea exploded, and rained debris everywhere and shatter windows all over San Pedro, as a kid in 1976 I thought it was an earthquake.
