Flying to Lompoc

We took a pit stop for lunch at Lompoc while enroute to Oceano (L52).   We followed the shoreline northbound over Highway 101, the highway makes a hard turn to the north at Gaviota State Beach which is also where the Vandenberg restricted area starts.  We were with SBA Tracon on 124.15 Mhz at this point, until switching to the Lompoc CTAF.  We did an overhead crossing before joining the right downwind for RNWY 25.   There were no other planes around the whole time we were in the area.  There is a small office for pilots, but no computer.  The airport manager was very nice, and checked the Oceano Airport webcam for us on his computer, it was still socked in.
If you want some lunch the walk is not far if you use the shortcut to the shopping center. It's on the southeast corner of the airport property where a gate joins the Comfort Inn parking lot with the airport tarmac. (see pics)  There is The Cajun Kitchen Cafe, Panda Express, Taco Bell, and KFC on the corner of Central and "H" Street, a short walk south from the Comfort Inn.
The marine layer over Oceano never burned off after lunch, and in fact, you can see in one pic it started creeping in close to Lompoc as we departed around 2pm.  We flew over to our backup plan: Santa Ynez Airport and a day in Solvang, good times.
