Bobby A's Cafe, Corona

Whiteman Airport, KWHP on the Right Downwind for 12

We made quick trip to Corona airport for  lunch at Bobby A's Airport Cafe and some shopping at Aircraft Spruce ,  winds were 280 at 14, gusting 19 with 4 planes in the pattern.  I had left rudder almost all the way to the floor. This little airport can get busy.  Bobby A's has good food in big quantities and the bacon is awsome! You can call Aircraft Spruce and they will pick you up with their shuttle.  They have a great showroom and lots of headsets and GPS's on display for you to try out.

We flew up the Salinas Valley to Monterey Peninsula Airport (KMRY).  This is a great time of year for flying in Califonia, the countryside is actually green!  We flew 6,500' northwest bound and returned 5.500' southeast bound with flight following both ways.  Be sure and go around Camp Roberts (R-2504) near Paso Robles, (Oakland Center reported it was cold anyway on the day we went by.)  Norcal Approach asked us to proceed to Spreckles (the sugar factory) for sequencing.  We then followed highway 68 through a canyon, and saw Laguna Seca Raceway off the right wing.  This was followed by the final approach for runway 28 Right.  We got fuel at Monterey Bay aviation.  I do not recommend this airport for a lunch stop.  The Golden T at the terminal building is good and has a great view of the airport, but it is on the opposite side of the airport from the FBO.  It turned into a logistics nightmare for us. There is no free transient parking at this airport.   MRY is best if you are doing an extended stay in the area, as the layout is difficult and it's expensive for parking and fuel.  GOOGLE MAP WITH MORE PICS HERE...
