Yanks Air Museum, Chino, Ca.

Flying to Chino with Peter....

Coming from the East, I just head for El Monte Airport, Mt.San Antonio College, then fly a heading towards Chino and overfly the prison on the downwind just east of the airport. Be sure and talk to SOCAL in this area (usually 125.5, followed by 135.4 MHz) as there are departures coming out of Ontario and Bracket in this area.   The tower will nomally have you join the right downwind for 26R.

Chino ground will direct you towards Yanks Air Museum. We parked just outside the rear fence of the Museum near the F-15. We called them on the phone and they opened up the rear gate for us so we didn't have to walk all the way around, awesome! Incredible Museum here, plan on spending more than a couple hours. There are more warbirds flying out of Chino than anywhere in the country, in addition to 2 huge warbird museums at Chino, you'll never know what you'll see flying overhead.

Be sure to check out the new FBO Flying Tigers Aviation too. Wow, it's like a mini-museum in there dedicated to an incredible moment in aviation history. If your looking for somewhere fun, and need fuel, stop by and see this place. All kinds of unique snacks, drinks, gifts and neat things to look at. Definitely beats the typical vending machine junk we see at a lot of airports. It's nice that it’s also located on the same side of the airport as Planes of Fame and Yanks. Just look for the cool watchtower with the .50 cal pointing out! I hope we see more Flying Tigers FBO's in the future.
